Santa is showing the town of Meridian the Christmas spirit for the one and only Meridian Lights Parade! This parade of festivity and wonder took place on Dec. 6th from 7:00 to 9:00 pm. Throughout many floats appeared decorated in colorful lights such as the great Idaho potato, many music floats, and the one and only Santa sleigh. Each float had its own theme and its own colorful lights that drew the attention of many spectators. This spectacular show has been occurring for 12 years now, ever since December 2012. Each year it has attracted more visitors and more sponsors such as Kendall cord, GMC, Big Jud’s, and Coned.

This year all were delighted to once again make the appearance of Santa Claus in Meridian. Not only that but many dog walkers, and Christmas bands played at these festivities, including the Rocky Mountain high school band.

Around the roads hosting the parade, hot chocolate lined the streets allowing the spectators to stay and view the entire parade. However, many roads had to be closed in preparation for this event. Those roads including most of Main St, part of Carlton, and 2nd St. These roads were closed from 4-9 Pm, while other roads like Franklin Rd. were closed from 6:30 to 9:00 PM.

All in all, this year’s parade was a great performance and beautiful for all to see. Next year, should you go to the parade, it will bring you the joy it gave all the others despite the winter cold.
